A Writer's Cause

I Didn't See It Coming

I avoided writing like one would attempt to avoid a pothole in the road. Inevitably, when you’re focused on the mile long list of things you need to do, or you become distracted by the chaos that seems abundant, you hit it anyway. It’s not a light bump either, just enough to get your attention. No, it’s an all-out assault on your vehicle and you’re left trying to figure out, “What just happened?”  I certainly didn’t see it coming, but writing has impacted my life in more ways than I ever imagined.

I write to find peace

In the midst of the storm,

Stillness and strength

For a soul forlorn.

I write to unyoke images

From the bondage of my mind.

To find freedom in the words

From those I left behind.

I write to remember

Echoes of the past.

If not written down

Those tales will never last.

I write to encourage

Those that come behind

To use these words of hope

And live a life refined.

Write for Life

Our experiences play a huge part in molding who we are, but we don't have to be defined by them. We can choose, instead, to persevere through them, even when we don't think we can take another step.
