Morning Minute

In Psalms 221:1, King David cried out to God in a way that seems to reflect the same words Christ used during his crucifixion. “My God, my God, why have you abandoned (forsaken) me?”

In the first half of this Psalm, David describes his dire situation and his desperate cries for help. Even though his situation hasn’t changed, by the end of the Psalm, he declares the praises of the Lord.

David sets a difficult, yet amazing example for us to follow. Praise Him, Honor Him, Show Him Reverence (vs. 23) In the midst of the struggle, even with no answer in sight, lift your praises to God.

It isn’t just a coincidence that the next Psalm is Psalms 23. If you’re going through a battle, meditate on this today.

Psalms 23 NLT

“The Lord is my Shepherd; I have all that I need. He lets me rest in green meadows; He leads me beside peaceful streams. He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings.

Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever."
